Fixing a name or birth date on an HSK score report

Sources checked

Once your test fee is paid, the regulations say no changes to personal information are allowed. Corrections then go through the Chinese Test Service Website, with supporting documents. Errors on the admission ticket must be fixed with the test centre before the test.

Before payment

The sign-up part of the regulations does not say whether you can change your details before you pay. It only says that no modification is allowed after successful fee payment.

Errors on the admission ticket

The admission ticket section says that the name, gender, date of birth and ID number on the ticket must match the valid ID you used when you registered. If they do not match, you will not be allowed to take the test.

You can print the ticket in 'My Account' from 5 to 7 days before the test. Then check it:

  1. Print or collect your admission ticket.
  2. Check that all the information on it is accurate.
  3. If there is an error, contact the test centre.
  4. Ask the test centre to correct it before the test.

On the exam day

If you find incorrect personal information on the exam day, tell the test centre staff that you want it changed. Give them the necessary supporting material. The regulations give photos of the original identity document as an example.

After the exam

The regulations say that no free modification of personal information will be accepted more than three days after the exam.

Stage What the regulations say
After successful payment No modification of personal information is allowed. Corrections go through the Chinese Test Service Website, with supporting documents.
Before the test, on the admission ticket Contact the test centre to have errors corrected before the test.
On the exam day Tell the test centre staff and provide necessary supporting materials.
More than three days after the exam No free modification is accepted.

After that, the regulations say that candidates need to submit a paid application for score report information correction or additional score reports on the Chinese Test Service Website. The sign-up part does not give an amount for that paid application.

To fix a personal information error on a score report, log in to the 'My Account' section of the Chinese Tests Service website. The Score Report Modification paragraph of the regulations gives no fee for that application. The same paragraph refers you to the 'Score Report Modification Application' section of the website for the process and notes.

The admission ticket section also says you should keep your admission ticket after the test. You need it to print or collect your score report.
