The HSK admission ticket: when you get it and why to keep it
You get the HSK admission ticket by printing it from "My Account" on the Chinese Test Service Website 5-7 days before the test, or by collecting it as your test center requires. You must bring the physical ticket on test day. You keep it after the test because you need it to print or collect your score report and to check your results online.
When to print the ticket and what to do if something goes wrong
The Get Your Admission Ticket section says you can log in to the Chinese Test Service Website 5-7 days before the test and print your admission ticket in "My Account". If you have a problem printing it, you may contact the test center for help with printing. You may also collect the ticket as the test center requires. The section does not say how early a collection must take place.
What must match your ID
The name, gender, date of birth and ID number on the ticket must be consistent with the valid ID you used when you registered. If they are not, you will not be allowed to take the test.
After you print or collect the ticket, check all of the information on it. If there is an error, contact the test center to have it corrected before the test. The section does not say how a correction is made or how long it takes.
On the test day, the test day items section lists the following:
- The admission ticket.
- An original valid personal identification document with a photo that matches the information you gave when you registered. Copies are not accepted.
- Candidates taking the paper-based test must bring 2B pencils (two or more) and an eraser. Candidates taking the computer-based test are not permitted to bring paper or pencils.
- All other items should be stored in the area the invigilator designates. They may not be carried on the person.
- A candidate who cannot provide the required identification and admission ticket on entry will not be permitted to take the test. That candidate will not be eligible for rescheduling, withdrawal or refunds.
If your passport is being renewed or reissued by the Entry-Exit Administration Bureau or another relevant authority, the section says to bring the receipt issued by that authority and a copy of the original passport. "Both documents are required."
Why you keep the ticket after the test
The section names three uses for the ticket after the test. You need it to print or collect your score report. You need its information to check your results online. You also need it to apply for additional score reports and other score services.
To check results, you log in to the homepage of the Chinese Test Service Website and enter the admission ticket number and name after the scores are released. The Result Inquiry section says candidates should have completed the test normally to access their results.
The section gives these release times:
- Paper-based written and oral exams: one month after the exam.
- Computer-based online written exams: 15 days after the exam.
- Computer-based online oral exams: 20 days after the exam.
The release dates are postponed for holidays. The section asks you to check the annual test schedule for the exact release date. If results are not released by the specified date, contact the test center immediately. The section says the test center would report the issue to CTI within three days of the scheduled release date. It also notes that paper-based tests may be delayed by shipping.
The Get Your Admission Ticket section does not say what to do if the ticket is lost after the test.
Leaving the test room
The Rules for Leaving the Test Room section says candidates are not permitted to leave the test room during the test. There are no breaks during the test.
If you need the restroom, you must get permission from the chief examiner. Hand your admission ticket and ID card to the invigilator before you leave the room. The invigilator checks your identity and does a security check again when you return. Your ticket and ID card are then given back to you. The time lost is not compensated.
Before you leave the test room, take your admission ticket and ID with you. Before you leave the test center, collect your belongings from the storage area.
